Counselors vs. Coaches

I was speaking with a friend that is a personal trainer at a local gym; I was explaining the difference between counseling and coaching. I thought I’d share that information here to help others understand the difference, in a nutshell.

Counselors help people with mental health issues such as trauma and emotional issues, focusing on healing emotional trauma.

Coaches work in partnership with clients to help them reach a desired outcome focusing on the present and future. Coaches work with clients to determine goals, find focus, and help accountability.
